Scheduling guide
Can you schedule posts on TikTok? How to schedule TikTok posts
Yes, you can schedule TikTok posts. TikTok's own scheduler lives in TikTok Studio on the web and covers the next 10 days. A scheduler covers later dates, edits after scheduling and posting the same clip elsewhere. Here are the steps, the limits that catch people out, and what to check before a post goes live.
01 / The short answer
You can schedule TikTok videos to publish automatically at a set date and time. There are two ways to do it.
TikTok Studio, TikTok's web dashboard, has a free built-in scheduler. TikTok's announcement of the feature describes a window of 15 minutes to 10 days ahead, scheduling from the upload page in a browser, and no edits once a video is scheduled.
A third-party scheduler connects to your TikTok account through TikTok's official Content Posting API. It holds the post and publishes it at the time you pick. That is how you plan further ahead than 10 days, change a post after scheduling it, or send the same clip to YouTube and LinkedIn as well.
02 / How to schedule a TikTok in TikTok Studio
1. On a computer, go to tiktok.com/tiktokstudio and sign in. You can also click Upload on tiktok.com.
2. Select or drag in your video. On 9 October 2026 the upload page listed a 30 GB and 60-minute maximum, recommended MP4, and 9:16 for vertical video.
3. Write the caption and hashtags, choose a cover, and set who can watch, comment, Duet and Stitch.
4. Turn on Schedule. Pick the date and time.
5. Click Schedule. TikTok publishes the video at that time, even if your computer is off, and notifies you when it is live.
03 / The limits of TikTok's own scheduler
TikTok Studio's scheduler is free and needs no other account. That makes it the simplest choice for one account and the coming week. Its limits are what usually push people to a separate scheduler.
| Limit | What it means |
|---|---|
| 15 minutes to 10 days ahead | You cannot schedule a launch three weeks out or a month of posts in one sitting. |
| No edits after scheduling | To fix a typo, change the cover or move the time, delete the scheduled post and upload it again. |
| Web upload page | Scheduling is part of the browser upload flow, not the main mobile app. |
| One account, one platform | Each TikTok account is scheduled separately, and nothing goes to YouTube or LinkedIn. |
| Finished video only | You need to bring a finished, edited video. TikTok Studio's Smart Split can cut a long video into clips, but that is a separate step. |
04 / Do you need a Business account?
This is where advice online disagrees. TikTok's original scheduler announcement says you need a Business account to schedule on desktop. Many guides say Creator or Business. TikTok's help page for TikTok Studio says its creator tools are available to both personal and business accounts.
The practical answer is to look for the Schedule toggle on the upload page. If it is missing, check these in order: you are using a browser, not the mobile app; you are signed in to the account you expect; and your account type in Settings and privacy, under Account. Switching to a Business account is free, but it limits the music you can use to TikTok's commercial library, so switch only if you need to.
05 / Can you schedule TikTok posts from your phone?
The main TikTok app does not offer the same Schedule toggle for most accounts. When you post from the app, you publish now or save a draft.
To schedule from a phone, open tiktok.com in your phone's browser and request the desktop site, then follow the TikTok Studio steps. A scheduler with a web or mobile app is the other option: you choose the time on your phone and the scheduler publishes for you.
06 / How third-party TikTok schedulers work
TikTok approves certain apps to publish on a creator's behalf through its Content Posting API. The API publishes immediately; it has no scheduling field. A scheduler stores your video and settings, then calls the API at the time you chose. That is why schedulers can offer dates further out and edits after scheduling: nothing has been sent to TikTok yet.
TikTok also sets rules every approved app must follow, so you will see the same choices in any compliant scheduler. You must choose who can view the post yourself; there is no preselected default. Comments, Duet and Stitch start switched off until you turn them on. You must disclose branded or promotional content.
Two limits come from TikTok, not the tool. A scheduled post cannot attach a sound from TikTok's music library; the audio has to be in the video file, so trend-led posts that rely on a library sound are better posted in the app. TikTok also caps how many posts all apps together can publish to one account per day; its developer documentation puts that at about 15.
07 / Schedule TikTok clips from long videos with Scribix
Scribix is built for people whose TikToks start as longer videos: podcasts, interviews, lessons, webinars and talking-head recordings. Upload the long video, review the clips Scribix finds, adjust the cut, captions and 9:16 framing, then schedule the finished clip. You can also publish an MP4 you edited elsewhere, up to 1 GiB and 10 minutes.
In the post composer, choose your TikTok, YouTube and LinkedIn accounts, write a separate caption for each platform, choose TikTok's privacy and interaction settings, and pick a time from 5 minutes to 365 days ahead. Scheduled posts appear in a calendar shown in your own time zone. Until a post publishes, you can change its time, caption and TikTok settings, or cancel it, without uploading it again.
Publishing and scheduling are included in the Starter plan ($29 a month, 6 connected accounts) and Pro (18 accounts). The Free plan lets you try AI clipping and download clips but not publish. Scribix does not post to Instagram, and it uses the audio already in your clip, as TikTok's rules for scheduled posts require.
08 / TikTok Studio or Scribix?
Use TikTok Studio when you already have a finished video, one TikTok account and a date within 10 days. Use Scribix when you want to cut clips from a long video, plan further ahead or post the same clip to YouTube and LinkedIn.
| TikTok Studio | Scribix | |
|---|---|---|
| How far ahead | 15 minutes to 10 days | 5 minutes to 365 days |
| Change a scheduled post | Delete and upload again | Edit time, caption and TikTok settings, or cancel |
| Platforms | TikTok | TikTok, YouTube and LinkedIn in one submit |
| Starting point | A finished video | A long video or a finished MP4 |
| TikTok library sounds | Yes | No; audio comes from the video file |
| Price | Free | Starter from $29 a month |
09 / Check these before you schedule
A scheduled post goes live while you are not watching. Check the parts you cannot fix after it publishes.
10 / Questions people ask
Short answers to the questions that come up most when scheduling TikTok posts.
Can you schedule posts on TikTok?
Yes. Use the Schedule toggle on TikTok Studio's web upload page for dates up to 10 days ahead, or use a scheduler connected through TikTok's Content Posting API for later dates and other platforms.
Can you schedule TikTok posts on the app?
The main TikTok app does not offer the same Schedule option for most accounts. Use tiktok.com in a browser, including your phone's browser with the desktop site requested, or a scheduler.
How far in advance can you schedule a TikTok?
TikTok's scheduler takes dates from 15 minutes to 10 days ahead. Schedulers can go further; Scribix accepts times from 5 minutes to 365 days ahead.
Can you edit a scheduled TikTok?
Not in TikTok Studio. Delete the scheduled post and upload it again. In a scheduler the post stays in the tool until publication, so you can usually edit it there; in Scribix you can change the time, caption and TikTok settings.
Why can't I see the schedule option on TikTok?
Check that you are on the web upload page rather than the mobile app, that you are signed in to the right account, and what account type it uses. TikTok's original announcement limits desktop scheduling to Business accounts, although TikTok's help page now describes TikTok Studio tools for personal accounts too.
Can you schedule a TikTok with a trending sound?
Not through a scheduler. TikTok's API cannot attach a sound from its music library, so the audio must already be in your video. If the post depends on a library sound, post it in the TikTok app.
Do scheduled TikToks get less reach?
TikTok has not said that it treats scheduled posts differently, and we have no data showing a difference. The video, the timing and your audience matter more than how it was published.
Is there a free TikTok scheduler?
Yes. TikTok Studio's scheduler is free. Scribix's Free plan includes AI clipping and downloads; scheduling and publishing start with the Starter plan at $29 a month.
Next step: Make and review a podcast clip with Scribix.
